It does not claim that Halo lifted the idea of squad-based combat from Elite Force. It simply says that they share that gameplay element. The article is actually fairly laudatory of Halo, saying it is one of two possible bright spots in the X-Box's otherwise lackluster lineup. And nowhere does it compare Half-Life's narrative to Myth's. It does compare Halo's story favorably to Half-Life's, and it does (in a different context) describe Myth's story as generic. What you have taken as criticisms of Halo as a game are in fact criticisms of Halo as a marketing tool for the X-Box. The premise is that games featuring memorable characters (you know, with names and faces) sell consoles far better than anonymous characters. The article is pretty clear on this point. The article IS perhaps biased against the X-Box, and is definitely biased against Microsoft in general. However, to the author's credit, he does acknowledge his general dislike for the company. Gromit : It claims Halo got the idea of squad combat from Elite Force. It said Halo : isn't "so good as to justify the purchase of the hardware it runs : on," then backs up this statement with a quote from a Halo fan who : isn't sure what else he'll be playing on the Xbox. It says Half-Life's : story was better than Myth's. It refers to Bungie Studios as "Bungie : Software." It doesn't mention Fusion Frenzy at all. : I also don't see why they complain about Master Chief's name and not Solid : Snake's. Finally, aren't GTA3 and THPS3 both coming to the Xbox?
