In Response To: Re: Shield and Sword - The Howling Dark *Long, IMG (Leviathan) : Thanks for pointing that out. I applied to Bethseda maybe a year or so ago, : but I haven't checked them out for a while. I would love to work for : them... : I think I've applied to probably over 50 concept artist jobs over the past
: I've also done portfolio reviews with Marvel and sent my portfolio to places
: It's terribly discouraging to not even hear "no"s back from anyone,
Don't give up, If you even just got an internship somewhere I bet you could go far. There is some really really cool bits in these posts. Cool concepts and design. Not only do you have the artistic vision, you also are showing ideas for story elements, menus, gameplay function, and even music. Really really cool stuff. Maybe you should think about not being just a concept artist or a story writing one trick pony, and think more holistically. You could become a great creative director or project manager since you seem to understand things on multiple levels and have a great vision for a whole idea. Keep exercising that part of your brain that sees the full picture and bring all those elements into one scope. I realize your strengths, and I realize this is a random brainstorm as you've proclaimed. Yet I challenge you to think creatively and imagine adding some engineering elements, or tools that can be a part of a software or engine that can assist in creating a final game. It is one area that I see lacking in your portfolio, if you will, that could really help a company decide they need you for their team. Show them how you can innovate to save them time and money. I apologize If I come across as authoritative in things, when in reality I know nothing. However I see an opportunity to try and "help". Sorry If I'm not helpful. You have a great mind and I feel feeble in comparison. If I can help encourage you in some way to think outside the box then I can feel pretty good about that. The Levi I see is bigger than Halo (Sorry if this post is preposterous). Thanks for listing your sources for your images, it is always prudent to credit others even if you just borrow one texture of a floor for a picture. I'd also encourage you to watermark your personally created images. I hate watermarks terribly, they are annoying as all get out. I just don't want to see someone else stealing your work without giving you credit. There are a *ton* of wretches on Youtube that love nothing more than to easily pass off your work as "New Halo 4 concept insider images!!!!1!1" It has been seen many times before. (Or is that part of your strategy to get exposure?)
