There's at least one guy at the Waypoint forums (whose name escapes me right now) who came right out and said that forcing automatic weapons into irrelevancy in Reach was a good thing (or something very close to that effect). Or just Google "Reach" and "AR is for noobs." It's not a nonexistent opinion. And just look at MLG's settings. Very limited sandbox with only four standard weapons: DMR, NR, magnum, and plasma pistol. A lot of uber-competetive players seem to have a very low opinion of automatics and most other weapons that aren't "skill-based," and it's not much of a stretch to assume that at the very least there's a handful of them who think the entirety of Reach MM should have the same narrow weapon selection that revolves primarily around an effectively bloom-less DMR.
