In Response To: Re: 100% bloom vs 85% bloom, in pictures. (Hoovaloov) : To me, what this shows is that the guns I use the most (DMR/NR) in the : gametypes I play the most (Team DMRs/BTB/etc.) are a lot more reliable and : consistent in the TU. I enjoy that in a weapon. I like the speed increase : in the gameplay and the added reward for high skill in accuracy. I like : fighting my opponent, not the weapon's randomness. Having them be that accurate when spamming the trigger goes against everything Bungie set out to do when they designed Reach's sandbox. The DMR and NR are supposed to be wildly inconsistent and inaccurate when firing at their maximum RoF. To get dead-on accuracy (both the DMR and NR have zero shot spread when fired when the reticle is completely contracted), the player should have to pace their shots. If you pace your shots, then they are not random at all. As I showed, 85% bloom translates to ZERO shot spread when firing the NR at max RoF, or the DMR at max RoF when both crouching and spamming. The only time spread (and therefore randomness) is present in 85% is when spamming the DMR while standing, but even then it's negligible. So, 85% bloom is only slightly removed from zero bloom. : In non-DMR start gametypes, does the TU make the DMR/NR too powerful?
It does mean that the TU breaks weapon balance and therefore should not become universal in MM. It should have stayed in Anniversary. At the very least, 343i should have made a few TU-enabled versions of key playlists but left the mainstays (BTB, Rumble Pit, etc.) alone. Y'know, something like this. : The TU isn't perfect, but I enjoy the good changes enough to live
I don't. I hate going into any TU-enabled playlist anymore, which pretty much restricts me to Team Slayer, Invasion, and SWAT. : Hopefully 343 will release the voting data from
From personal experience, vanilla Reach seems to be doing very well, with it getting the vote and usually an outright majority, and that's a good thing (only one match so far has been for TU and that's only because our party leader started the match, walked off, and didn't get back to cast the vote we needed for vanilla).
