I took the : time to grenade jump over there and make sure everything was dead. Hah, yeah they don't count. I thought I'd fluffed up by missing them, but nope, got the achievement safe and sound on my first playthrough of the level without doing anything particular, other than making sure to keep killing them at the end until they stopped respawning.
