In Response To: The Genealogy of Halo Maps, Pt. 1 (FyreWulff)

: We can tell one thing from this screenshot: for the fourth time with the
: concept and the second time around for the developer, Certain Affinity has
: evidently adapted HeH:A with some Forge capability indicated by energy
: bridges that convienently don't case shadows replacing formerly solid
: catwalks in the original map. It remains to be seen if the non-Classic
: version will alleviate any issues with the map's openness and the DMR that
: Halo 2 exposed and Longshore dealt with beautifully. I think this one case
: where I might just want to bring some Longshore into this map via Forge,
: but it remains to be seen what kind of palette HeH:A anniversary will
: contain. Perhaps we'll even be able to make Tombstone via deleting the big
: ramp? Only time and publisher reveals will tell.

One of my big questions pertaining the Anniversary maps was one of how Forge-friendly these maps would be, considering Certain Affinity's weakness in this regard with the last map pack...

But looking closer at this screenshot, I've noticed some things that give me a bit of hope...

What western name will this map have? My money's on "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"...

Look closer at that picture. Notice any.. consistencies?
Here's my crazy theory: Maybe the entire map is Forgeable, like a Foundry 2.0
A space larger than the Coliseum, but still contained, like Foundry was.
It would be a great opportunity, considering the playspace, and the image actually supports my theory.

What first caught my eye were these:

Except for the vines, this tower seems to be built out of three of the same pieces. Each piece is identical in design, but seems to have three different levels of wear. Maybe it's just rotated? It would be easy to implement the vines in identical and rotated pieces.

The second thing to catch my eye was this "Tombstone":

Unlike all of the other (identical) tombstones (there's even one on top of the tower in the screenshot), this one's sunk a bit into the ground. You can't see its base, and its clearly shorter than the others, but it's still clearly a tombstone piece.

At first glance these two tower pieces seem to support the theory:

But the vines actually hurt my theory. Even if it was rotated to the opposite side, you should still see vines on at least one side of the object, but the one on the right is clearly free of any foliage. Unless we can forge flora (need I remind you guys of the "driftwood" pieces?), these are two different pieces, and I doubt CA would be loving enough to include worn/new variants of any Forge pieces, even though that would be awesome.

Thoughts?

CEA fo' cheap!
