In Response To: Re: Sure thing (Stephen L. (SoundEffect)) : What we were discussing would be much simpler in scope. I had proposed a : simple map such as you'd find at the store or a gift shop, but make it : Mombasa of the future with some illustrations from Leviathan for points of : interest. I was hoping to make the Halo 2 Mombasa and the ODST Mombasa : make more sense together, rather than the current mess they're in. Iv'e already got a couple of ideas as to how to do this. The way the city is set out, the very tall cluster of buildings that overshadow the areas that are traversed in ODST, are pretty far south east of the actual bridge. If you were to ask me to make up a B.S reason on why you couldn't see them in Halo 2, then i'd say it was due to the dense fog that was hanging around that day. (You can't see very far north, or south due to this fog when you're crossing the bridge in Halo 2. This is probably just a time and resource saver on Bungie's part, but this misty appearance is continued in the later levels of ODST. So we'll go with that!) As for the space tether... yeah that's in completley different places between the two games. I'm going with the ODST location when I get around to making the main island. Though from the test layouts iv'e done, the visual location of the ODST space tether from the bridge isn't really too far from the way it appeared in Halo 2. Apart from these two details, the games really don't overlap - so I can actually add every other building and detail without compromise.
