There's so much going on in every panel beside just advancing the story - it's quite rare (at least in terms of Halo comics) an artist can both keep the details consistent and still produce stylistically unique, phenomenal artwork. 343i has used artists' individual styles as an excuse for the lack of fictional accuracy in visuals, but Levi's work nullifies any claim that you can't have both unique style and consistency. When I look at Ruiz's work on the TFoR comic, I see an assembly line production where the artist seemingly wanted to get each panel and the details over with as soon as possible. In contrast, every panel in AFoA is rendered in loving detail not only on an artistic level, but also in terms of canonical accuracy. Unlike in nearly all of the official comics, at no point do I need to start wondering why there's something that shouldn't be there. Not only that, but all the little details do a good job of grounding the comic into the universe we see in the games, while displaced visuals always create a sense of disconnection. I think 343i should compare this with the comics they've churned out, and realize the bar has been raised for their future releases as well. It's not that their comics were bad (with the possible exception of TFoR, that one's been pretty substandard so far), it's just that they're very unimpressive compared to AFoA. And this was made by a person who doesn't even get paid for it! I don't, however, believe it's even possible for an outsider with little knowledge of the Halo universe besides reference images, to reach this level of in-universe detail - it definitely takes a hardcore fan. As such, the only thing 343i could do if they want to avoid further goofs in their comics and make the fans happy is to hire Levi. On a related note, Levi, are you still planning that story bridging the gap between H2 and H3 after you're done with AFoA? Would absolutely love to see that.
