In Response To: Re: Headhunters #1 (Flynn J Taggart) : It's not the worst voice acting I've ever heard, but nowhere near as bad ass : as Spartans should be, IMO. The animation itself was good, though. Oddly, I disagree in one aspect. While I agree that the voice acting is subpar (but again, far from the worst -- I'd even be hesitant to say it's actually bad) I think that they're trying too hard to be bad ass. Common problem, actually. You think "awesome soldier" and you get a mental image of a gravely, weathered voice. People shoot for that too much, in my opinion. Then again, I openly admit that my views are based elsewhere. When I was a little kid, I had to spend a lot of time in nursing homes due to my grandmother. I met a lot of vets from both world wars (and a few other bits of combat) who desperately wanted to tell somebody their stories. It's a thing I've noticed, but I'll spare you that speculation. One of the things that I pulled from these stories, though, was their descriptions of somebody that was badass. "He was a short guy with a nasally voice." "He was lanky and sounded like he was going through puberty the entire time I knew him." "We made fun of how he looked for a while, but then..." Nowadays, I don't associate a kickass soldier with a "bad ass" voice, I more picture them as the guy who you wouldn't expect. That said, for Spartans, either II or III, I always imagined them more like Kurt Russel's character from Soldier than the chatterboxes from Reach. (That said, if you haven't seen the movie... About the first half, maybe a little more, is good. Don't watch the last bit as it degrades into a traditional chest-pounding action flick. Not too horrible, as a sidequel for Blade Runner.)
