: I'm glad they leave gaps in the timelines. It allows for awesome fan-created

: yours and Levi's more than some of the "official" content.

Honestly, I think that's the best way to approach the Halo fiction. Concentrate on the gaps and fill in the details. But not so much as you tell such a complete story that there is no room for your audience to have nothing to add themselves.

Levi does way more with Halo, being true to Halo and the universe than I do. I wanted to make a goofy comic about some misguided ODSTs. The Romeo comic I'm doing is nothing too serious as well. Just a fun little comic as a tribute to a complicated character. It's certainly not a huge deal, just a nice look at him.

I could of started doing fan comics based around something in the current Halo timeline but I didn't because the canon is so daunting when you look at all of it. But once you start picking one section of the canon and see how much you can do with it without breaking it, it is quite liberating, creative and inspiring. Hell, I might do a comic about Kelorism. lol

The bottom line is you have to care about the product you are doing. Anyone can write a story and set it in the Halo universe. We've seen that. I've done that. But to make it rich and exciting you really need to make sure that the story is good. Is the Halo universe better and richer because of that story being told? But then again, if Bendis hadn't written his story then it wouldn't of been used by other creators at least subliminally when they write. Even the "bad" works can be used as reference or to help others get a broader sense of the Halo universe when they write.
