In Response To: I'll let these stand on their own for a bit (ISitInA) BZZT! Alert! Captain, I have finished my calculations regarding the coronal mass ejection. Bzzt! First, the bad news. I estimate it to be truly massive, enough so that the particles will reach escape velocity from the system and appear almost as a pulsar burst to the rest of the galaxy. We would need to move a minimum of 40,000,000 Km beyond the edge of the gravity well of FR-S 3287 for our AVAB system to deflect the ejection's radiation and particle burst. That's not the bad news. The bad news is that the feasibility of moving the station that far and back without completely destroying our timetable is literally impossible. Bzzt! But of course I have good news! I have calculated a method where we can not only survive, but keep station damage to a minimum. We move ourselves and the station within the planet's magnetosphere. By using the planet as a shield between us and FR-S 3287, the planet's magnetosphere (plus our AVAB system) should keep harmful particles to a minimum. Bzzt! This maneuver has been performed three times in the past. Bzzt! I have also calculated that, should the crew be restricted to the inner decks, it would protect everybody. My calculations indicate that there would be a 3% chance of crewmembers suffering from radiation effects, electrical discharges, and blindness from this maneuver. It would also keep damage to the station and ourselves to a minimum.
