As for why MS didn't do it alone originally, they were clear on that-- moviemaking is not the business they are in, and you don't staff up to do that business for only one project. : Once done, there'd be no doubt that they could find a distributor. : !! : Maybe they could skip the traditional distribution and make it available on : the xbox marketplace or waypoint… Assuming that the audience for the movie then would be exactly the same as the games-- since it now would require an Xbox and an internet connection-- then the viewing price would be the same as a Halo title, assuming they cost the same to make. And AAA budget movies this days still cost more than AAA budget games. Plus, people who don't subscribe to Gold or even connect their Xbox to the Internet can still buy and enjoy a Halo game for $60, so the audience for a movie distributed on Waypoint is actually smaller than the audience for a game. The numbers don't work out. : Think big! They were. That's why they didn't do it themselves.
