It seems that typically an agent, or even the other soldiers, go into Recovery Mode when they are wounded, freezing them and rendering them unable to communicate, like in the last episode. It seems that Donut was simply shut down into recovery mode. This could also explain how Sgt. Flowers was brought back to life. Though I think the second mode-of-death was probably enough to kill him. XD
