That's my speculation too. It's not even one step into fantasy to imagine Bungie giving us access to the same scenery boulders they use for the maps. I can see the same huge boulders in a couple of places.

They are just another object in the catalogue of objects.

I do notice some of the trees have shadows so maybe they are not included. Or maybe they are but no light map for them. Is light map the correct description?

I'll just throw in this crazy speculation again. Bungie could provide after market processing for user created maps. Use XBLive points to get that finished look to your map with a complete light map. I would have easily paid 500-1500 points for finished versions of my Stonehenge map. The market would be small at first but once those beautiful maps started rolling out the FANs would be lapping it up. I betcha if Bungie hasn't thought of this idea, they are kicking themselves to the can and back.
