In Response To: A question or two (Sl'askia) : Don't know if you are still checking this thread, but I had a question or two : that was not answered by the Rules on the contest page. : First off, are we allowed to 'sign' our work? I always sign my artwork both : copyrights on who owns the IP of the fanart and my own copyright for the : art and any OC depicted. Of course, I know my usual method would not be : suitable for a black & white, so I was thinking of just something like : initials somewhere on the piece (you would not be able to read my : signiture...eh heh). This would be only to show who original did the : artwork (I understand that once I sent it, it pretty much becomes : Microsoft/343's property and they can do whatever they want with it: : that's how I interpeted the rules anyway....). : Somewhat related to the above, would it be OK to post the piece elsewhere on : places like DeviantArt? Though personally I am not likely going to post : the full, finished image prior to the contest closing if it is allowed : (that just risks some jerk taking the image and trying to submit it as : his/her own entry), I just want to 'cover my ass' as it were. Hey, Feel free to post your submission on sites such as DeviantArt, if you’d like, just be sure to submit it as an official entry using the methods listed in the official rules. As for adding a signature to your submissions… It’s not against the rules, and is up to each individual artist, but keep in mind that we are looking at the pieces as a whole and if, for whatever reason, the signature distracts from the visual appeal or storytelling of a given submission it could have a negative impact on how the submission is viewed. That stated, we definitely want to make sure the artist is given credit when we post entries for public viewing and especially in the case of any potential winning submissions, which is why we ask for the artist’s name along with their entry, so we can list them both online and, in the case of any winning entry, in the Table of Contents and About sections of the actual Evolutions printing the art appears in. Does that make sense? -Jon
