That still sounds pretty darn open to me. There is a huge difference between "not free" and "invite only". The beta was open to the public--you might have had to buy crackdown, but ANYONE could buy crackdown. A hypothetical private party at Bungie HQ is not open to the public--whether you gave someone $60 or not.

But the point I'm trying to make is--WHY. Yeah, they could invite a handpicked group of people and make them sign a NDA--but WHY. WHY have people pay several hundred dollars for airline tickets to fly to Bungie HQ to check out some maps? WHY let them see something which they aren't even allowed to talk about, and WHY risk info leaks by doing so? WHY send the message to the fans that "we like these guys, so we're going to treat them special. They know something you don't and they aren't allowed to tell you."
