In Response To: Re: Bungie Developing new Halo game confirmed? (DHalo) But it's still a pretty silly move if you ask me. I don't believe for a second that the folks at Microsoft have done this simply to spite Bungie, and I don't think Matlock (or whatever his name is) canceled the reveal and then slipped up in an interview just so he could have the glory. I think it's just like they say: they went to E3, they gauged the mood, and they said "You know what, we don't need to announce the next Bungie project, not after we wowed 'em with You're in the Movies." What I find silly about the whole thing, is that they let Bungie go so far in preparing for and setting up its audience for this reveal. It's not like Microsoft and Bungie had worked out some super-secretive plan to have a Bungite pop in at the last second at the Microsoft news conference and drop the new title, like the guy from Square did with Final Fantasy XIII. That type of thing is easy to cancel and to bury, because nobody knew anything was going to happen in the first place; so you stop it and we're all none the wiser. But, as we so very clearly see right now, when you cancel something that's been in place so publicly for so long, you get backlash. Not to mention I'd have to imagine that, considered the work that must have gone into this reveal and the number of people outside of Bungie who might have been involved, it's going to be very hard to contain the leaks between now and the time they decide to actually reveal the project. So I'm wondering, why the hell didn't Microsoft realize "Hey, maybe we don't need this right now, but we're pretty well invested in this reveal so we might as well just get on with it." Instead they decided to slam on the brakes of the stunt car right before it hit the jump causing it to fall short and crash and burn in the canyon. If they'd just gone with the flow, they'd be rolling easy on the other side right now. Silly heads.
