In Response To: Re: Add Halo Online feature after release... (John Denton)
Here's a tantalizing snippet from a presentation made by Robbie Bach shortly after E3 this year. Did he know something we don't about Xbox Halo being patched next year to work online?
"So online gaming has to work so that when you’re in a game, so I’m playing a game like Halo, one of the action games you saw there, and I want to play against a team of other people, I’m just going to say multiplayer. My broadband connection is effectively just on. Microsoft is going to authenticate me, because they know who I am. They know I’ve played this game before. They know my skill level. They’re going to take me to the theater automatically or where I want to be and find the people I want to play. It’s got to be that easy. All right, that requires, frankly, some serious technology work and a lot of work to put all that technology behind the scene and not in the user space. That’s why a console has to be dead easy."
