In Response To: Re: Halo goodness, not so good anymore. (Matt)

: There is more involved in taking good screenshots than running around a map
: and entering the screenshot command. Other people do it that way and you
: can always tell. We try to make our screenshots tell a story - preferably
: not The Story Of The Guy Who Had To Take 120 New Screenshots But Really
: Wanted To Go Home. So we take our time and look for the right situations,
: the right camera angles, etc. It's a trial-and-error process. We have tons
: of screenshots that will never see the light of day because they're not
: good enough.

Heh, so you're basically censoring all the ugly stuff out? ;) Seriously though the goal of a screenshot is to give us a view of the game without actually being in it, or at least it used to be. Somehow/time/place screenshots seemed to have transformed into an art where little of the actual game is included and whole battles are mocked up just for that ONE screenshot because that's what people will see on Blue's News and buy the game based on. Whew, maybe that's a little extreme but it's true.
So I say run around the level and grab random screens...I think you'll find they're appreciated a bit more. And if the shots are "not good enough" as you say then who's fault is that? Not the person taking the screenshot, I should hope, but the artists and programmers for making an ugly game =p
