In Response To: Re: Bungie General Recommended Reading? *Semi OT* (Evil Otto) The lack of Charles Stross on this list is downright criminal. Singularity Sky and Iron Sunrise are probably the best space opera I've read (aside from Alastair Reynolds' work.) Accelerando and Glasshouse, despite being creepy as hell at times, are incredible. (Protip -- you can download Accelerando for free in e-book format from Stross' site.) Others to consider -- John Scalzi (great writer, and absolutely hilarious), Jack McDevitt (the Academy series is a well done space opera; while Eternity Road is by far the strangest SF I've ever read), Peter F. Hamilton. Also, I'd like to add that if you're going to pick up Alastair Reynolds' stuff, make sure to get Pushing Ice. Frankly, his independent books are somewhat better than the behemoth that is the Revelation Space series (if only because they get to the point a bit quicker.) (Yes, I'm well aware I'm not a Bungie employee, but I couldn't resist contributing.) -ACE
