I think I sent it your way once or twice :P It works, but it's not feasible to be used by many.

Depending on the refresh rate it can put a lot of automatic strain on the forum server, but it is also demanding for the server hosting the script, as it loads and parses the entire forum index.

A public solution would have to be integrated, me thinks.
