However, there is also the shockwave. But shrapnel is the main damage vector for frag and spike grenades. However, for an incendiary grenade it is obviously the napalm and (presumably) a superheated shockwave, and for plasma (which is more similar to incendiary than anything else) it's the plasma (which would be very hot as well) and also the shockwave. The spike grenade could be modeled on any stick grenade-Russians and Japanese used them in WWII, and there have been stick-like makeshift grenades all through history.
