You've got a nice idea there, but I'd be pretty surprised that someone would come up with the name of a specific type of mine to relate to the Spike Grenade. Contrary to what is probably popular belief, especially since games can't capture it very well, grenades don't work by causing damage via a big explosion alone. The real damage is done by the shrapnel propelled at high speed by the explosion. So any way you look at it, the Spike Grenade is indeed a Grenade and very likely to be modelled on the old German Stielhandgranate. Its like air-to-air missiles. People think the missile actually hits the target aircraft and explodes on contact to cause damage. But that isn't exactly the reality.
