I think general dislike towards MLG tends to stem from a couple reasons. First, MLG has a history of allowing the use of exploits like BXR in their tournaments, which wouldn't be so bad in and of itself except that these jokers are perceived as being "professional" and such behavior follows in general XBL play. Second, some MLG members/fans are very vocal about how the game as it was originally designed sucks, is broken, bring back the pistol, want/demand their own playlist, etc. In short, I think it's fair to say that the perception is the only thing professional about the MLG is that people are making money. : It's similar to why pro baseball (which has its : own issues, I know) doesn't use metal bats. The team games that MLG plays : are only 4 on 4, so that more or less rules out good vehicle games. Now : that I think about it, the only weapons the pros don't often use are ones : that aren't usually used in multiplayer anyway, namely the plasma rifles : and the sentinel beam. Pretty much every other weapon is used, just not : dual wielded. I kind of like your baseball analogy, but I think it's a tad off. I think it's more like there's one team in a baseball league that doesn't like the rules, so they make their own up and then bitch when none of the other clubs want to follow suit. Oh, and they think they can throw their bat at the fielding team because it's possible and takes skill to hit them with it.
