In Response To: Spartan Laser Replica (CitizenErased27) (5:01pm 5-26) by using this photo... i figured out about how wide it is. i took the inside width of openable lid on the barrel and found that it was about the same with as the front to back length of the vents above the warning symbol. since i have a side view i can use this vent length as a means for measuring "about" how wide the inside of that lid is. and since i am planning on this being the basic structure and then adding all of the details and other pieces, i need my basic piece to be only as wide as the lower black portion of the gun. if you look, the inside width of that lid is at about the same width as the lower black part. so this is what im going with, and later i will attach all of the green armor type sides of the gun. heres my dimensions for basic shape:
