In Response To: H3-based HUD concept (BOLL) hmm I think what Bungie was going for was half realism (what a spartan would actually see through his eyes), half functionality. If they had gone full out for functionality they very well may have come up with something like yours, but there are attributes of the current HUD to be wanted- having info in the corner frees up a lot of room in the middle and associating ech corner with a certain type of information. Weapon? Top right. Motion Sensor? Bottom Left. The one thing I really feel is the innovation in your HUD though is the motion sensor affixed to the cardinal directions. Bungie chose more of a mechwarrior-esque compass for this- which is good for nav points and a slow rotation speed like you have in Mechwarrior, but in Halo you can instantly turn around and everything literally gets spun in a 180- that's where a motion sensor with a compass really makes sense.
