In Response To: ok, back from school. (ActiveCamoElite) OK, in a literal sense, especially if you are traveling, turning the wrong way could be an awesome experience. Looking at what you wrote as an analogy works as well. All analogies break down when applied in the literal sense. That is why they are analogies. : now, although I do believe you are right about it not being sprint, I didnt : like your analogy. It doesn't work for every scenario, such as: say your, : as you said, traveling down a road. your coming from a hotel, and your : staying in a foreign location. your hungry and the closest eatery is 25 : miles away, and lets say the clerk at the hotel wrote down directions to : said eatery. you follow them to the letter, the first instruction said : travel east on I-whatever for 5 miles, and you do so, then it says get off : and travel north and random road for 10 miles. then it says turn *smudge* : at the upcoming T-junction. What? a smudge, you cant read which direction : your sapose to turn. and like an idiot you forgot to write the hotel's : number down, and your so hungry you dont want to turn back, so you flip a : mental coin and go left. now the next insruction is simply an observation, : it says at about 8 miles you'll see a country store on the left. so your : going and your going, and at 8 miles, nothing, no counrty store, you go a : little further 10 miles and you pass an old rundown gas station. at this : point everyone in the car is like "ok, turn the car around" but : you insist "lets go the full 15 miles, weve already gone 10, it cant : hurt us anymore", then you add "and at least we'll see somemore : of this beautiful counrty side." *everyone sighs* so your going and : going and right as your odometer hits 15 you come to an interesction, and : there as if a gift from God, the faimly restraunt you so desired. because : you stuck it out, and stayed in it until the end. : now im going to mention the war, mainly because you did, i dont want a : political argument either, but i felt called to write this. the war isnt : like a road with no end, there is an end, and if we turn off the road : before we get to the restraunt, and go back to the t-junction and go 15 : miles the other way, we'll feel really silly that with only 5 miles to go : we gave up. and you still have to go 15 more miles back again. Refraining from politics, I dont want to get this thread locked. I do see what you are saying though. My input from a philisophical standpoint is at least acknowledge the input of advisers or experts that are giving you information that what you are doing is not the best of ideas. Another road analogy could be the passengers of the car (experts/advisors/study groups) are telling you to move to the other lane, because the road splits further down. Both forks will take you to the same destination, but one route is longer, and perhaps not as safe, or less desireable. Listen to advisors, they are giving their input for good reason. Either they have been in similar situations in the past, or they just flat out know what the correct course of action is. (Such as KP instrucing us to let the idea of X being any form of faster movement to die.) : PS if your ever near columbus Texas, dont eat at "the hot biscuit" : the food really sucks.
