From other Halo 3 screens scattered around, both the assualt rifle and the battle rifle are present in the game. With the chief also plunging straight down into the swarm of brutes without nading them first, this suggest that the assualt rifle may be more powerful; there also might be new melee options, such as kicking and punching. It is also assumable that the chief would have an option to put away his weapons.
