Right, meaning you can't actually tell anything about the allegiances from the fact that he was fighting a grunt... so back to square one :)

You can't make a speculation consistent with a minor released fact and call it a spoiler.

If I say "the Master Chief will die in Halo 3" and it turns out to be true, this isn't a spoiler since I didn't know it was true when I said it.

All we know from the updates or even from these text extracts is:

1) There are Grunts in Halo 3; at least one more than appeared in Halo 2.
2) The player will apparently fight at least one of these Grunts.
3) Grunts will either ally with one side or the other, or won't.

None of above facts count as spoilers or lead irrevocably to a single conclusion that constitutes a spoiler.
