| Why not between Voi and Mombasa? | |

In Response To: Helpful map *img* (j41m3z) : Cities and landmarks.
Kilimanjaro, being a mountain, is pretty big. It can very likely be seen a great distance away in any direction. Mombasa, being a city, is probably not nearly so tall. Now, I realize that the Chief is apparently walking towards the artifact, in the direction of New Mombasa. And I realize the track name is "The Road To Voi" indicating motion towards it, rather than away from it. However, given the relative sizes and distances involved, might it not make more sense for the artifact to be between Voi and Mombasa instead of between Voi and Kilimanjaro? What's the distance between the artifact and Mombasa at that point on the map, and how high would a building in Mombasa have to be to be visible over the horizon at that distance, assuming level terrain? | |
