Now that the XBox is based on off the shelf PC parts, isn't it possible for all the future XBoxs (XBox2 etc) to be backwards compatible with the XBox(1) games? Not just that, but it would be possible to make an XBox2 with enhancing features like higher resolution textures, better AA, higher framerates etc on the XBox 1 games.
Soo, the XBox 2 could be based on say the GeForce 6 and still have the same exact way to program it (with a few new effects that aren't used much yet, or invented yet). But people could always take take advantage of the hardware easier and faster than ever before, and have more time to make the games fun and work on gameplay and extra finishing touches.
IMO the XBox is the best designed console yet, a little big (that's one of the only things that people can complain about), but still the best. And with laptop parts, MS could release a 1/2 - 1/4th inch tall (no need for a monitor, but it could be done) XBox that's no wider than a laptop and weighs around a pound. In the future, the normal PC parts will be even smaller than they are today, so that's not unrealistic to think that an XBox that size would be affordable to MS to make in 5 or 6 years (like Sony did with the PSOne).
