I asked Matt about this once before when the E3 trailer came out. He said that IK was not linked to death animations but they were doing some preliminary work in this area. I don't know what this latest update means in that regard. Matt?

The thing is, everyone's been assuming that Halo's built on some kind of heightmapping dealie like Myth was. And in Myth, this meant that making terrain over terrain was an absolute and total no-no. You might as well ask your computer to divide by zero. There was some speculation on the forums as to how it could be faked with portals and structures, and this was even done to a very limited extent in Myth. (I'm thinking specifically of the tunnel at the end of the fourth level and suchlike. You couldn't do anything with it, but it was a convincing illusion.) But now it sounds like they've integrated it more into the engine so it's relatively easy to do. This is good. Oh yeah, and after the shoreline in the E-3 trailer, I'm all in favor of the crashing waves.

To save space, here are a few of my own comments.

Even if you only took into account the number of crack-induced suggestions I've personally put up on this forum, this would still be the least helpful Halo comment in the entire universe. :)

Now doesn't THAT sound familiar. A revisting of themes indeed...
