Anybody got any good tactics?

Especially for the first level in Legendary. I've got a sword and a battle rifle, and it seems to work well until the last wave of like 5 elites comes.... and then God damn! Anyways, I can't get past it...

Once I tried manning one of the plasma turrets up the top, and now believe they must be loaded with confetti... they don't do squat.
