What happened to Regret? *SP*

Maybe I just missed something.. but what happened to Regret after he was attacked by the Flood. I remember the MC going up to him and (if I recall correctly) tossing off the flood that was attacking him. Is it possible that Regret became the Brain Form of the Flood and maybe that is what Gravemind is?

And all this talk about the Flood being of one mind blah blah... does anyone know if this Brain Form of the flood can exist in more than one place at one time? Maybe this brain form is the 'one mind' being mentioned a bunch. For those who have read the 2nd book (The Flood), it seemed the Flood was very smart in the way that it was able to (or at least was able to attempt to) take Keyes' thoughts from him. Humans sure as hell can't do that.. yet the flood seem so ridiculously stupid.. yet they don't. Confused a bit here.
