See Toronto for a good example; I understand that Brooklyn and : Chicago are others. Maybe. But I doubt the mighty Bungie artists would have done that. A space elevator would be located on an area near production facilities, on a industrial sector. After all, The main objective of a space elevator would be to transport heavy cargo, not passengers. Unless the factories and all that were underground... In that case it would all make sense. And if it were a raigun, I wouldn't resist the temptation of going all the way to the top just to jump and see if the new halo engine allows you to see your fall all the way down to a definitive and sweet "SPLAT!". : That's another possible interpretation, but the romantic in me wants the : space elevator to be "real". I've never seen one rendered... : only drawings... it'd be kewl... Well, If you really do want to see a space elevator, no mather what (and you are desperate). And at risk of sounding geeky (Haha! Who here isn't a geek?)... There IS a episode of StarTrek Voyager with one on it. The space elevator in this case was used to transport minerals and was ultimately used by Tuvok and Neelix (SP?) to escape when the planet was attacked by fake-meteors. It may not be all you are looking for on a space elevator (As I remember, this one consisted of one single rail and one elevator car), but it's something. On my case, I'm just hoping the next Halo-Structure is more ellaborate. With all the things and technological marvels Niven described on his RingWorld books.
