I understand Bungie's position on release dates. However, they're in a no-win situation. When a game is this eagerly anticipated, there's no way they can make the salivating fans happy as long as the game isn't out. If they divulge an estimated release date and miss it, fans become angry. If they keep the world completely in the dark, as they're doing now, fans become angry. I hope Frankie's updates offer a bit of compromise; Let us know how the game is progressing. Let us know when a snag is hit. Let us know how much longer they EXPECT development to take. "Sorry folks, but we found a bug that was a result of conflicts between the physics engine's gravity alogorithms and the blah blah blah and as a result we're going to have to rewrite about 300 klocs. That's going to take at least another two or three months." I've said it a million times, I -do- appreciate the "It's done when it's done" philosophy of development. I'd prefer a perfect game released when it's finished to a rushed game ridden with bugs and glitches. But have a heart, let the fans know what's up. You can keep people informed without making promises you know you can't keep. They aren't mutually exclusive. I mean, I'm starting to wonder whether or not they just enjoy whipping us all into a frenzy and letting the mystery of the release date feed the hype machine.
