: Needle Launchers. New weapons in Halo 2, apparently. In one of the earlier
: Halo interviews, I think it was Jaime Greisemer that said a weapon which
: fired large plasma spears into the Covenant and exploded shortly after was
: cut out from Halo. It seems it's back in for Halo 2.

While the reference to page 108 has merit, I'm afraid to reference to page 88 has no special significance. Taking into account that a Grunt was carrying one of those "needle launchers", I somehow doubt that it can fire needles "the size of his [Fred's] forearm."

Therefore, the grunt was not carrying one of these new weapons, but merely a standard needler. The projectiles mentioned on page 108 are likely fired from a stationary turrent, given the fact that many are fired at once, and each is the size a Spatan's forearm.
