First of all, I would like this to be brought up front: THERE IS NO PLAYABLE BETA! Note that word, playable. My uncle was (and still is) on the mailing list of the "What's going on in the world of mac programming". He just recieved in the mail the other day a package from them. The package contained 7cds; 4 for wing commander (all the source included), 2 for Halo (1 for mac, 1 for pc, again, both with the meshes etc), and 1 he has not told me about. Now let me reemphasize again, this is NOT A PLAYABLE BETA! This is only a demonstration of the power of the engine. He has told me that there is the vehicle (that jeep), all the weapons, both the ground and air cars for the Covenant, and the map of course. There is absolutely no AI apart from that of the Covenant units moaning and clutching their chests when shot. But best of all, it runs like the dickens on a 550 PIII. :) All this halo stuff is supposed to do is to give a demo of their incredible engine. THIS IS NOT THE GAME. The retail will almost definately have afew new meshes, and will not act like this <I>programmers resource</I> as is. -Flames welcome, but this is the truth. -SFire | |
