I think this 'secret' is likely the method by which Bungie has accomplished the revolutionary graphics on the current generation of 3D cards. I don't believe it's actually going to be anything that they haven't already shown us, rather the secret to their accomplishing what we've already seen.

My guess is that they're just afraid that someone else might realize how it isn't such an impossible feat after all, and could perhaps be duplicated fairly quickly if they let their tricks out of the bag.
