If your Macs battery is 4.5 V for example, you : just have to connect three 1.5 V batteries in a row and they add up to 4.5 : V. I don't have an iPod, but a similar solution can't be too hard, or? The Belkin battery pack, for example. Four standard AA's are all it takes. (see link)
