I agree that Halo retells the Marathon story... except I'd tie it more with Marathon 2's plot. A lone ship with a cyborg marine and a rampant AI flees an alien fleet (Pillar of Autumn escapes a battle disastrous for the humans while after Boomer leaves Tau Ceti it is sacked by the Pfhor) to a planet which contains some kind of secret vital to saving the human race. You'll all remember that Durandal's purpose for going to Lh'owon was to locate the 11th clan and enlist them in the war with the Pfhor... and Halo contains some kind of secret which was so important to the Covenant that amazingly all of their ships pursued the Pillar. Also the Covenant are a combination of races, which makes me think of the Pfhor and all of the races they have enslaved to fight for them, like the Sph't, Drinniol, and cyborgs. I wonder if there is some race oppressed by the Covenant that will rise up like the Sph't?
I've never posted here before (as you can see from the name I'm more Myth-centered, but my roots in gaming are Marathon)... I was surprised to see that this site had a forum!

why not call it a Pfhorum?
