Sorry you misunderstand. I'm not stretching at all. I'm not even trying to shoehorn Halo into the Marathon universe or vice versa.

Halo cold simply be Bungie's retelling of the Marathon story. Mankind ventures forth into space and meets hostile aliens. In a strategic battle against overwhelming odds a lone military cyborg (and Rampant AI) wins the day and the course of the war is changed. Sound familiar?
