: I haven't heard M1 music but the ambient sounds are not dorky they make the
: game alot more realistic. And I don't believe M1 is the best Marathong
: game I belive M2 is. It didn't just have dingy spaceship corridoors it
: took you to cool outdoor environments, caves and ancient S'pht structures.
: It had multiple and bigger landscape. It improved the graphics and stroy.
: It added liquids. MI I've never really gotten far in. As for M1 I don't
: like the sound effects in M1 that much. Alot of them are pretty corny such
: as the riochet. The ones in M2-MI are more realistic. Same with the look
: of the wepons, some looked pretty corny in M1 like an old Sci-Fi movie.
: They improved with M2. Also I find the hunter more intimidating in M2. The
: spikes really add to the effect. So to sum it up in the order of my most
: faverioute M2,M1,MI
I still like M1 a WHOLE lot better than the rest. I think that the emotion was fascinating: I didn't like the way the environment was in the sequelling marathon games: everything seemed more primitive and dully relaxing all the time. In M1, things are more hi-tech, things are more hectic. I don't think that the graphics were as good at all: but graphics isn't important, always remember that. What' s important is GAMEPLAY. I DON'T think M1's emotion is lacking, I DON'T think that it's sequals are any better, in general.
Here's how I see it
Marathon 1: I remember when it was knew. People talked about it all the time (now it's nothing but blah blah blah blah, check out Unreal Tournament 2003). I liked it a lot. You're on a ship, things are horribly wrong, and although MI's storyline was confusing, you didn't always know what was going on. Crazy computers. I noticed how Durandals personality was more evil and menacing than in the sequals. In the first, he's like: yadda yadda yadda, welcome to my little game, if you lose, you die, etc. He never seemed to be that way again in the sequals. I like the looks better in M1 also, hi-tech, darker, creepier environment. I will always love M1, and I will never like any other M game better. I like the background music better than the boring and cheesy ambient sounds, I think the music had more emphasis on the games emotion, and it satisfied ME more.
Marathon 2: This game was great also, though I don't like it as much as M1. When I first started, I was surprised to find how, who used to panic and scream "they're everywhere!" were now carrying guns, though still as dumb as before lol. But I don't think the computers or environment was as crazy, hectic, spooky or as satisfying for me as M1. I noticed that there were some new creaturess like the drones (robotic creatures). But, the only trade off was that the computers often occassionally said interesting things. Plot was pretty damn good, I'll admit it was better than M1's.
MI: I was so damn confused by the plot, everything was so nuts: are you guys seeing something in this game that I don't, cuz' I don't know much about everything. But I kind of liked the-was it darkness?- thing that was mentioned, because I don't think that that sort of stuff was all that good anymore after M1.
Well, feel free to give feedback.
