In Response To: Rubicon Volunteers - Hard Vacuum (Steve Levinson)

: text that was prominently displayed on every functioning terminal
: in the station and echoed over the stationwide intercom.

: Looks like the last person to leave forgot to turn out the lights.

I'd always thought that this was Durandal's doing, as I don't think they'd go through so much trouble to locate and furnish a secret planet just to forget to unplug a computer, but then again, stranger things have happened...
:

: Only executed? After they tortured countless thousands and threatened
: humanity’s very survival? I’m no death penalty proponent, but these
: evil-doers should have had their tongues excised, as they did to their own
: prisoners, and been injected with the most painful of imaginable ailments.

Thank you, Mr. President ;)

: In the resource fork of the Rubicon Map, it is
: labeled “Jjaro Me Young.” What an interesting name for a picture. What we
: see is a young person of in determinate gender – if I were to guess, I
: would say a woman, but possibly a young man. There is also superimposed on
: this a circuit board and some numbers.

My take on this is that this is indeed Kate herself, though if you look her eyes are disfigured in such a manner that is reminicent of the prominent "sight and blindness" theme in Rubicon. Here we see Kate blinded by her own greed and seemingly ensconsed, just like those pathetic, decrepit kids, (notice the circuitboard skin) in the same technological corporate menace that she had sold her very soul to. For indeed she had as we read this earlier about Kate:

"You sell your body to the technology, and your mind to the money. When both are gone, there’s no house for the soul, and the love of your life has turned into a woman with a gun to your throat."

Also, would I be correct in saying that this is the first Marathon scenario to have a love interest of sorts? Pity it didn't work out, but then again, who wants to date someone who'd sell you out for a formula?
