In Response To: AI speech? (Vid Boi)

: It seems at some places the AIs speak and sometimes they write text. Or what?
: And another thing... What's all wrong with this sentence: You can almost
: imagine the face of a wicked computer with its eyes wide and its lips
: folding out in a grotesque smile. A smile which reminds you of something
: from your past...

: (Answer: it seems strange to me that he is just imagining the smile. If he
: had seen a smile and said "hey this reminds me of something" it
: would be totally normal. But how often do people say "Hey, I just saw
: an image in my head that is 100% a creation of my mind and it reminds me
: of something.")

The text seems to rather be asserting thet the Marine imagines that Durandal would smile like this and that this smile came from the Marine's past.

For example, you could try and imagine what Durandal's voice sounded like, and then that voice (i.e. Durandal's voice) reminds you of an actor that sounds like that.

Know what I mean? Its a bit of a twisty train of thought, so Bungie have expressed it well in those few words.

On the other hand, maybe they just wanted to reuse the 'something from your past... ' allusion to indicate that the player has a history that is worth exploring.
