In Response To: Rubicon Volunteers - Not *This* Again (Steve Levinson)

: Now some might argue that Chris wasn’t very original here, basically
: copying the layout for the level from Bungie’s earlier versions. Some
: might even say that he violated their copyright by even using their
: original map as a starting point.

Actually, I've always been drawn to Pfhor Your Eyes Only, I've even started a level including this as an entry point to my scenario "...there is no nature..."

The Marathon scrapbook noted that the designer of the Pfhor levels (I can't remember his name) confounded the other mapmakers - they couldn't figure out how he did certain things.

: Casualties aboard target objective mobile base (?ship) have reached point
: of unfeasability . . . Determined cause of casualty level is unknown rogue
: conditioned . . . Commanding officer first class Nf'arl hereby submits
: resignation pending improvement in attack success ratio against targeted
: subject.

So apparently Nf'arl is the seated Thinker that you find in that room? I thought they were computer specialists.

: There is also a secret terminal that is worth a read – well it’s not all
: that secret since it can be seen from afar, but getting to it involves a
: long swim through plasma (there is a 3X recharger and some ammo as a
: reward, however):

: once there was a man
: without a conscience

3 guesses as to who...

: who feared
: the dark and
: jumped at
: midday shadows

I don't think we actually jumped, except in Evil, that is.

: and maybe he did
: good, and maybe not
: he certainly did wrong

If killing pfhor is wrong, I don't want to be right. Though I guess we took out our share of BOBs too.

: but cast away
: old memories
: whether they go
: willingly or no
: and hope for the return
: of a childhood
: that may never
: have existed
: at all

echoes of Bladerunner - replicants - battleroids -cyborg or robot?

: because innocence
: is bliss
: and now I understand

Our innocence of Achilles? or ignorance?

Also, the text of the poem is in yellow. Isn't that the only time in the game that yellow is used as a term text?
