: well they'll always be artificial inteligences, if only because they were
: manufactured.

What about our character? He was supposedly manufactured in a battleroid factory. What is "manufactured" but being "put together by hands". The word says nothing about the end result.

: Leela has no will? She puts up a fight against the pfhor with extremely
: limited resources(i.e. you and a couple off M.A.D.Ds) Sends off a message
: to earth, and manages to escape the S'pht viruses. So, in my opinion, she
: does have a will. The will to survive and succeed.
: (I'm rather fond of the Leela character, so I can't say I'm unbiased)

Heh, Leela is a nice voice to hear in those dark corridors. =^) Her "will" is her instructions to preserve the humans. Her survival instincts are only for the benefit of the humans. She doesn't act for her own selfish desires. In this way, I see a kinship between her and the player, but that's only incidental.

But then again, under my denfinition, and ant or a bee is not possessed of life! Maybe there's something more to life than free will?
