In Response To: Is Durandal really AI? (Agent Shem) I think that artificiality is in no way connected to whether an entity is a life form or has free will. Durandal definitely has free will, but is he a life form? He certainly demonstrates self-preservation. Could he reproduce? Tycho was cloned by the Pfhor, does that count? And would the offspring of an AI life form be "artificial"? |
