In Response To: The timing of the Rogue Star (Forrest of B.org) : By 2811, at the end of Marathon 2, a rogue star has been passing through our
: Is 815 years near enough to a millennium? Well in human terms it is the difference between being born in 1811 or being born in 1996. So a significant difference. : Could the rogue star’s entrance to our galaxy be the return of the Jjaro two
: There are other significant events dated to that same “around a thousand
The use of a 1000 years (millennium) is quite common place in literature and has a special significance in Christian beliefs e.g. the Second Coming. Bungie were not adverse to using it throughout Marathon and also Myth. The "rogue star" and "another abandon world" references at the end of M2 were designed to let us know that the story of Durandal and the player would continue in some fashion. The Final Screen simply puts some closure on certain events in M2 allowing for a completely new direction in Marathon 3. That never happened and we never did get our hands on the original plot treatment for M3. No doubt it got recycled (like the Fungal Zombies) into Halo and by the 7th iteration it was unrecognisable as such. There is no evidence to suggest that the appearance of the "rogue star" and events described in Marathon 2 are connected. I am not saying they are not, just that there is no evidence. : The Jjaro return to deal with the Dreaming God. While back, they recall K’lia
What we do know is that K'lia protected Lh'owon by creating gravitational forces along with the other 3 moons. When K'lia 'warped' out, the tides receded and turned Lh'owon back into a desert world. It is possible that the Pfhor detected this 'warping'. As slavers/plunderers I am sure they were always on the look out for new opportunities. Cheers
