In Response To: Re: Freeverse and Aleph One 1.0 (Dispatcher) : Some of the textures, now available in Aleph One versions of M2 and M3, appear to be descended from what was known as the "Texture Replacement Project" or more accurately, Texture Enhancement Project, which began when Aleph One was young. Thanks for the links! I hadn't known the history of that project before. I'm also not sure how/if it's related to the Total Texture Enhancement Package, which was the predominant texture pack when I returned to the community in 2009. The textures we distribute with Aleph One come from three different sources: Marathon - the TTEP release mentioned above Marathon 2 - Freeverse's textures from Durandal XBLA (we ship 512x512, but they were created at 1024x1024) Marathon Infinity - Goran Svensson's texture and landscape packs As far as I'm aware, both Freeverse's and Goran's sets have been made completely from scratch, sharing nothing but Bungie's originals as a reference. As long-time Marathon fans, though, the artists would certainly be aware of the earlier project, and it probably influenced how they looked at the textures when adding extra detail.
